  • capture timer

I do a lot of analog capturing with edius and normally it works just fine. However, I'd really like the ability to end my capture after a certain time.

With DV captures this isn't a problem as the deck notifies the software when to end the capture. This isn't the case with analog capture. If I'm not around to click "Stop" on the capture, edius continues to write blank footage from my ACEDVio out to disk.

I asked about this a couple years ago and was told there were no plans to support timed capture at this time.

I wrote a small application that performs a left mouse click after a given number of minutes (or fractional minutes). This lets me start my capture, run my little program, position my mouse over the "Stop" button, and go to bed. This solves one of my biggest gripes with Edius. If you're interested, you can download the app here

The zip file includes the Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 redistributable package. You'll need to run the x86 version of that installer before clicker will run.

Hope this helps someone else. Let me know if you run into any problems, it was developed and tested on Windows 7 64 bit. Enjoy!
