Well part of the issue is visibility. YouTube has a lot of visibility. I just tried encoding using Windows Live Movie Maker as it has a YouTube setting and I am getting the same thing. Whenever I compare two videos in EDIUS, the before and after, the after has the audio always off by a few frames.

I am almost tempted to offset my audio by a frame or 2 just so that when it uploads it ends up correct.

What are you using to host on your own server?

I am encoding my files in T5 to mp4, it has option to place file info at start of file

I can't use the EDIUS mp4 exporter because it places the file info at the end of the file, meaning the file won't start playback until it is fully downloaded

this is no issue with youtube because it re-encodes all movies and places the file info at the start

one thing you could try is change your project setting to 44.1 audio prior to export for youtube, that way, it would eliminate possible 48k to 44.1k youtube conversion issues

Encoding to 44.1 for audio didn't work. The file was still not in sync.

I just did a test in which I shifted the audio by 2 frames earlier in the footage. This worked. When I download the MP4 from YouTube and compare they almost exactly line up now.

Sad that I have to shift the audio just to make this work. Fortunately my logo will give enough buffer to allow the audio shift.

fwiw, I would caution you against uploading "intentionally wrong" videos.

YouTube keeps all the original source files, and on occasion may re-encode from those original source files.

While they may re-encode it some day, right now and for a long time it has been broken. I am tired of uploading videos only to have those I upload them for come back complaining the audio is not in sync.

I have a Vimeo pro account which I use for paid jobs - have never had any sync issues, and I do a lot of syncing music with separate audio.

Thanks UlfLaresen. It is good to know that Vimeo doesn't have issues. I may have to sign up for there Pro account and then cross post. Post on YouTube just to get coverage and add links to Vimeo.
