  • Analogue capture query

I have come to capture some vhs-c tapes today, so have my setting to use the NX front bay composite connections.

I can see the tape playing in the record window all appears to be fine.

The problem I have is I can't set edius to start recording, unless the vcr is playing and outputting a signal to edius. Until the vcr is playing the capture button is greyed out and F9 doesn't work.
I have it set to name files before recording, so I can set the vcr playing, press F9, name the capture, rewind the tape and then press play and press record as soon as edius picks up the signal, but I still lose a small amount.

The 7 tapes I have to do have all been recorded straight from the beginning, so I'm going to lose a small amount from each.

I'm sure with the previous version (4.11) I could start recording before pressing play on the vcr..... or could I? I only did one lot.

Is this how it works now?

Have I missed a setting which would allow me to record before edius receives a signal?

    Cheers,

    Graham

    this is normal

to overcome, use a TBC as a go between or use a deck with built in TBC

in my case with For-A TBC, I start capture and then I press play on deck

basically, a TBC always outputs a signal, Edius needs to detect a signal in order to capture

      Thanks Anton,

      Maybe it is the deck.

I've brought my vcr from the lounge up to use, as my normal one doesn't play the tapes to well, after a hunt around the house vcr's I found this one did. It's the first time I've used this one for capturing from.

I'll try with my std deck after this tape has finished and see if it's different.
