  • Edius 6.52 Dissolve transition from Black Matte - Horizontal lines

Just upgraded from E6.07 to E6.52 and notice dissolve transitions from a black matte to a video clip are not clean. There are horizontal banding/lines every few frames during the dissolve. Anyone else experiencing this?

Workaround is to not use dissolve, instead use track mixer to fade video opacity. However a pain for old projects created with mattes and dissolves...

Update your graphics drivers. Also, check all of your connections to the NX. This includes internal connectors as well. Also, make sure the card is seated properly. You could lift it out and re-insert it into the slot.

Having just up-dated to version 6.52, I to have noticed horizontal banding using the dissolve effect. One effect I like is to have 6 to 10 frames of white matte with the dissolve effect added, using this method really shows the banding lines.

Just to be clear, this only came apparent after updating from version 6.51 to 6.52.

All my machine drivers and graphic card drivers are up to date, and the NX card is seated correctly.

        Any help, much appreciated.

        Thanks

        Chris

Not a step dissolve for me, more fine lines during the dissolve.

Seams like we are all having the same problem. Yeah is not a step issue, its horizontal lines. Appears to be with interlaced footage and since Edius 6.5x has the new resampling scaling for Lanczos etc. I have experimented with different Sampling settings which affects the interval of the line problem but havent found a setting that resolves completely.

Only noticed so far with colour mattes and dissolves.

Does this show up on the video output, or just on-screen preview?

It sounds like scaling artifact from the display of the fields.

Happens with any playback on preview monitor and NX output. Also any file output or render. Every resolution, even native source project preset 1920x1080 which doesn't have any scaling.

Thanks for the confirmation. Sounds like it's clip-independent as well, so it should happen with color bar clips as well?

Is it only happening with pal framerates?

Reason I ask is that I have tried it with Avc intra 100, dcpro 50, AVC Intra 50 ntsc frame rates and I have not see it.

I can confirm the horizontal lines only in interlaced Pal project settings.
For those of you with the lines, are you all using interlaced or progressive settings?

25i and 50i show the horizontal lines. 25p does not.

Here it is with Color Bars:

Hi Brandon, it shows on the output (finished DVD) well, on mine anyway.
