  • Printed manual

Apologies if this has been asked/answered before but my search drew a blank:
is there anywhere I can buy a printed copy of an Edius 6.5x manual?
I know I could print the PDF version but I don't want to wear out my printer!

I'd go to my local office supply.
Print on two sides and punch for 3-ring binder.

Search will be disabled on the paper version. :~)

      Thanks Rusty,
That's certainly an option but I do like a nicely bound manual sitting on my shelf rather than a ring binder :)

I would give the same advice as Rusty. Your local office supply should easily be able to Bind it if you like. It will not be cheap.

I would support bhouse, so professionally printed manual in a book format would be nice to get on my desk also, even one cost will be around 30-40 bucks.

Go to your near Office Center to print because ther's no printed version: only .pdf file.

I must admit i would like a manual but there again i would never read it in its paper form, its so much easier to type in a search on the pdf, sometimes search is a bit difficult. The market is not big enough for someone to publish

I don't understand why no major publisher offers Edius related books. It would be a very easy task for GV marketing: just contact the publisher and/or an author and give them a license. Little cost, great impact.

Unfortunately printing books is everything else than cheap... you have to be sure to sell a certain amount, otherwise it can quickly become a loosing deal. That's one of the reason for our company to offer video tutorials rather than books. And meanwhile there are several good EDIUS video tutorials out there from several publishers. Of course this can't replace a manual, but in many cases it's a more than adequate replacement for further books i think.

I'm sure big publishers would come out with EDIUS books if they would see a market for that.

Regarding the EDIUS manual - for the Germany/Switzerland/Austria region you can buy a professional made 570 page (partly colored) EDIUS 6.5 German manual at official EDIUS dealers. This was done on the initiative of one of the major EDIUS dealers. Think this should be possible in other areas, too. It just needs someone to push it and take care of.

Rusty you mention that search function will be disabled in paper version. However, when I go to use the search function I get a dialog box titled "Document Information" and a message that says "This document is secured with password security". Hence I cannot search in the online version. Do you know how I might fix this?

                        Are you using Adobe Reader?

Thank you for the heads up! I have changed the default reader for the Edius PDF to Adobe Reader and the find and search functions are working fine now.

Shouldn't be a big deal for GV to place a book title in a books-on-demand store.
E.g. Amazon provides services for selfmade publisher.
                              Risk is limited.
Doing it for Edius 8 makes not much sense since the product is an ongoing work in progress.

The thing with book publishers is, they have to print a number of books.
But the economical balance can't be kept if one takes the popularity of Edius in mind.
