  • How do I replace Multiple entries of corrupt JPG in timeline

    Hi All.
Just finished a large induction and training video which features a jpg image of the company's safety handbook front page in multiple appearances throughout the vid.. This is animated in several different ways using both 3d layouter and 3d PIP. and makes various different appearances with other pages or text.(so all different layouts).

It has been discovered that the jpg is incorrect slightly, and my client is sending a replacement.
My question is: Is there a way of doing a straight replacement with the existing jpg and keep all of the animation and scaling? Or have I got to go through the whole animation/ scaling/ positioning bit again?

What I would love to do is just delete the incorrect bin file and replace it with the new one ( identical in almost every respect- it just has a couple of graphic lines that they have deleted- bugger!)- Or maybe just switch the files in the root folder, as the bin is only a refence I guess. Any thoughts welcome.
    Cheers!

Just replace the original, same name and type, you can even do this while Edius is running
If for some reason it won't, it has never failed for me before you can always change the name of the original and then use the replace lost clip

or bring the new clip into the bin, copy the clip then select each instant of the clip on the timeline and use Shift+R (Replace clip) and all should be OK

if the person sending you the jpg is sending it as a different resolution, then your layouter settings may or may not be in need of readjustment, 50 50 chance

I would check the resolution of the existing, then make the new one the same in Photoshop before replacing

          Anton, Barry,
Just some feedback- Barry, I followed the replace file process plus resized the jpg to duplicate the earlier version as you suggested Anton, and the job was done in 30 minutes- absolutely brilliant! You have saved my week-end guys, thanks again.

next time you can do it in 30 seconds

            1. close EDIUS
            2. resize the new jpg the same as the old and then rename it so it has the same name as the old, then copy/paste it to the location EDIUS is using it from, this will overwrite the original
            3. open EDIUS and all should be fixed
