  • Ultra CS3 and Edius 4.51 bad playmates

I am working on a project shooting on a green screen. I have taken the shots, trimmed them in Edius 4.51 and printed to file from the timeline as an HQ file. I tried to import them into Ultra, but the program crashes. It puts up an error message saying that an unexpected error has occurred and to please contact customer support if it continues.
Test Two. I imported the original file captured and converted to HQ using ProCoder 2.04. Select the clip in Ultra and no problem.
Test Three. I printed from the timeline (the same clip) to Procoder 2.04 to convert to HQ. Result - no problem with bringing the clip into Ultra.

    What's up with that?????!!!!!!

Is this HD HQ files? Are you using "Online" or "Offline"?

        New twist !

Ok the saga continues. The HQ files that I made in Edius 4.51 and printed to file using ProCoder 2.04 do not make Ultra CS3 crash BUT, you can not output the file from Ultra CS3 to make a composited HQ file.
I have a second C drive that I cloned before upgrading and I am back to using Edius 4.24 with no problems at all!!!
Maybe I am setting something wrong in Edius 4.51 but I am not sure what???!!!
By the way yes I can bring the files that I print to file from the timeline back into Edius 4.51 to use again.

I had all kinds of problems with 3rd party apps and it turned out the original 4.51c install didn't get all the codecs registered for their use. Rt click my computer and select manage.Select device manager, expand Sound, video and game controlers, rt click video codecs and under properties you should have 4 canopus codecs (6 if you have broadcast which includes DVCPro)...are they all there? The fix is to re-run the 4.51c installer on top of the intitial 4.51c install.

            What if?????

You hit the nail on the head!!!! Thanks! I have Edius on another system and the codecs ARE there.
But what if the codecs don't install on the second run at install? Then you have to run the HQ Codec Package download!!!!!
            SUCCESS!!!
            Thanks again SOOOOOOOO Much!!!!

By the way I ACTUALLY like Edius 4.51c
