the Beta SP deck needs to be connected to widescreen TV or 4:3 TV that is widescreen switchable

check with your TV station as to delivery possibilities

here in Australia, I can upload the add via ftp to a central media server and it will be available to all stations that I email the key mumber to

I'm not sure about that model in particular, but usually component output is "raw" and the letterbox/squeeze/etc options only affect the LCD display.

It's up to the receiving device to determine how to properly display the signal.

    Hi Guys,

Pardon the ignorance, I am just about to start in HD. Could you explain a bit more in details different options for delivery a HD show to a TV station. Let's say that I shoot at 1440/1080 (with Sony Z1, bought it yesterday), import through Firewire in Edius (as HDV or HQ - whatever the Edius quick work format is for lossless) and edit the show. Can I export through Firewire back to Sony Z1 to record in HD (I do not know if the camera can record HD as a VCR)? So far that is the only device I have in HD. If I go to DVCAM tape it has to "downed" to SD. What is this HDFV tape? I should output to a hard drive maybe? Enlighten me, please.

    Thanks,

    Luby

For output via HD component or HD-SDI, you'd need appropriate EDIUS hardware. EDIUS NX or EDIUS SP for HD component, or the EDIUS HD system for HD-SDI.
I think you should tell him to captured the footage as HQ or HDV and not downsample it first.

I produce commercials and still deliver on Beta SP. I shoot with a JVC 110u. Edit, downsample and deliver on Beta. I'm editing on a dual processor Alenware laptop. What would I have to do to deliver a spot on HDV or HD. Thanks in advance.
