Maybe some of you know this but here's a tip:
You dump lots of clips onto the timeline and hopefully, you are set up that it will pause waveform creation while playing. You are working and setting things up but there is a clip that you need the audio waveform now. (It's not showing yet since it's in a que.) Just right click and choose properties (my shortcut is CTRL-Z) and click "refresh wave data" and that particular clip will jump out of the que and the waveform will be created immediately.
