  • Source Browser and K2 Ftp

    Hi,

We have an strange situation on our fresh upgraded Edius 6.5 machines. (Windows 7 64bit)
We download files from K2 servers with the source browser. Now the new Source browser settings always make a %MediaType% folder in the path of the downloaded files. In our case the media path contains a folder called "K2 (FTP)" with a space in the middle.
I think this space may be a problem because in the bin and on the timeline the downloaded video seems to be offline, but the file is in the right place. I can find it by right click and explorer on the file.
If I try to relink the video it still remains offline so we can't use the files from the original path.

A made a sort "space" test for example our original path is:
    X:\EDIUS_PROJECTS\HANGINZERT_08_4\Transferred\K2 (FTP)\192.168.20.211\KLIPPEK\AKOS_LASS_BENNEM.mxf
I made a new folder structure and copied the video and the ewc2 file to the new path:
    X:\EDIUS_PROJECTS\HANGINZERT_08_4\Transferred\K2_( FTP)\192.168.20.211\KLIPPEK\AKOS_LASS_BENNEM.mxf
The difference is only the space character in the path "K2 (FTP)" and "K2_(FTP)" folder, and you can see the two files on the timeline attached. The new file is OK.

(sometimes it happens that the video is ok but only the audio tracks are offline :) )

Has anyone saw a similar problem?

Are the machines at 6.5 or 6.51?
If they all are at 6.5 can you upgrade one to 6.51?
I will check this with our QA department.

We are using similar workflow but with Edius version 6.0.7 and K2 Client version 7.4.2 without problems.
Whitch K2 version are you using? Is this SAN or standalone K2?
Have you tried export directly from K2 on that path? (Right click on clip in AppCenter and "Send to" option with MXF like wrapper?
Is this "X" some NAS storage?

with 6.07 we had no problem either, there was no %MediaType% folder in the path of the downloaded file
the X is a local drive, and we use K2 San. There is no problem with the mxf file, if I copy it anywhere else and add to the bin its Ok.

        regards

You need to create an account at www.grassvalley.com
Register a copy of 6.5 and then the 6.51 download will be available.

Are those K2 clients running on version 7.xx or 8.xx?
If 7.xx I can test on my system but if 8 I can not.

Thank you for the help, I had only v6 registered so I couldn't find the upgrade earlier
It seems that the K2 FTP works fine in 6.51 source browser, there is no offline problem with the same stuff

Tomislav: Thanks for your extra time
