  • Invalid Serial

I have successfully installed Win7 Home Premium 64-bit on an iMac in Bootcamp. So it is a totally clean Win7 install. I have plugged in external media via firewire and USB. Everything functions fine. I want to install Edius v5.51 on this machine. I have also configured the system as per Anton's recommendations for Win7 64-bit.

I have the original Edius installation disk and serial number for v5.0 plus the associated dongle. I also have all the relevant patches and updates to take me to v5.51.

I have plugged in the Edius dongle. When I start to install Edius 5.0 it asks for the serial number which I enter (22 characters). But it says it is incorrect. This is obviously a mistake.

I checked all posts here on this forum and the knowledgebase. The files related to the Windows updater issue - "pavedius.dll" and "pavplal.dll" - are not on my Win7 system and the computer has no internet cable or connection.

Anyone have an idea of why my valid serial is not accepted?

are you typing it or pasting it?

if typing, be aware that there is no Ohhh in EDIUS serials, whenever you see an O, you type a zero

Anton thanks for the quick response. I am typing the serial on the keyboard and making sure the zeros are correct.

Anton, I just re-read the original installation pdf for v5 and I see it says enter the serial number - 6 to 16 digits which is on the sleeve of the installation disc. I am temporarily in a different country from the original packaging so acquired my serial from the Grass Valley page which lists my registered software. This is a 22 digit number. Is it possible that at some time since I originally purchased Edius v5 that Grass Valley updated the serial? I notice that my dongle has GAC followed by a 6-digit number. This does not work either. So any ideas are welcome.

OK, resolved it. There should be a hyphen in the serial number. This is not present on my registration record on the Grass Valley website.
