  • chinese subtitles

im doing a short film competition and i need to put chinese subtitles under someone talking. since i dont have those in vistitle , how would i load them in. this is a spoof , so i just need to show the chinese words while they are talking, no need to be matching word wise at all.

I would find out first which chinese? cantonese etc?

then I would load the appropriate language pack and then it will be there in vistitle, after all it is made in China

in my case, with Win7 Ultimate, I can simply go to windows update, optional updates and choose any or all of 34 languages including traditional or simplified chinese

but all jokes aside, vistitle already has several chinese fonts included

do you have the text in chinese characters? is so, simply choose a font in vistitle like FangSong or DFKai-SB or KaiTi etc

you need to paste it and not type it, or do you know how to type in chinese?

if you copy chinese text and paste into textbox that is set to FangSong it should work

how is the customer providing you with the chinese text?

can you paste the following text into vistitle, if yes, then all is well, you just need someone to provide you with the text unless you know the chinese language and you know how to type in chinese

or were you thinking you can type in English and it will be automatically typed in chinese? you also need a chinese keyboard

If you install the proper IME (Input Method Editor) in Regional Settings, you should be able to enter Chinese without a Chinese keyboard. Of course, if you don't know Chinese, it'll probably be near-impossible to get the right thing entered. :)

                        Pooh,
that is simply a long winded story!

How do you get the chinese text?

You need a format which archives the font & the code page!
If you have the choice ask for a word or rtf document!
Both will archive the symbols in the right condition.
Copy & paste should work if the right font & country style
                        has been selected.

Subtitle scripts would be good but that is another story!
Since simple text scripts do not archive all informations
                        needed for correct text interpretation.
There are more complex subtitle formats (such as EBU STL)
would archive what you want. But Vistitle can't read such at
                        the moment!

understand i dont care about the words i put together making any sense , this is a film where im, as a joke, having someone talk chinese and the subtitles will also be in chinese, humor here, so it makes no difference what the symbols say
