  • Excessive disk activity

When i'm adding files to the bin (mpeg2 HD) immediately the hard drive start working like its converting something in the background, i've checked "Background job" and there is nothing there.
I went to "Settings -> system settings -> importer/exporter -> mpeg" and turned off "use accel. seek" and no effect.

I'm using very large files so it takes forever and never stops.
It stops only when i playing the video.
It making the system extremely slow and very hard to work.

    Please give me a solution
    Thanks

    EDIUS auto generates 2 files

audio waveform files and mpeg seek files

both these are important, so let it generate them before you start editing, it only takes a few minutes if you have lots of clips, as long as the clips are not on external cards or USB devices, in which case there is an option to disable such files on external drives, look under Other

I have 16 files of 2 hours in my project, 64 gigs each, and it takes forever.
The project is now open for almost 6 hours without doing anything and there is still disk activity

I can only imagine this hapening on a faulty or damaged external storage like SD card or USB hdd.

2 hour files should only be a minute or so per file, max, even a virus scanner can't account for hours of activity.

Do you have any utility to check your storage for bad sectors etc ?
What storage do you use and how full are they ?

          Thats not that,
These are brand new ST1000DM003 drives, they are very fast and connected internally through SATA3

            Please describe your system.
            Which Edius?
32 hour of video (16-64 GB files)
            Are you using proxy files?
