Edius / Final Cut/ avi issue
I have been working with a company in Nashville on a long standing church project. They are doing the “Final Edit” with Final Cut on a Mac. I shot over 2+ hours of “B Roll” for them and cleaned it up in Edius 3.5. I exported the clips in folders to an external hard drive naming each group of clips in separate folders so that it would be easier for the editor to find the file he was looking for rather than have to spin down through over 2 hours of “B Roll”. I really tried to make it easier for him. However, when I exported the clips to the folders I used Procoder express and the avi format provided there. I forgot that he would not be able to open them. What he told me he had to do was to attach the hard drive that I sent to a PC and then change the extension so that his Mac in Final Cut could read them.
Question: In the future, if I am asked to do this again, how can I export my avi from Edius (now running 4.5x} so that someone using a Mac can read them?
I told him that he could down load the Canopus codec free from the website. Would that have helped? However, he is not using a PC but rather a MAC.
Thanks
Ronnie
