  • Titlemotion Editing

I have been using Titlemotion for some time now but would like to find out how to align lines of text after editing easily. I import text, (cast list, production crew etc to make a roll title) often I then have to make changes as the list I get is often wrong and needs editing. This often leaves an empty space!!! Is there an easy way of aligning these lines of text to remove these empty lines and inserting extra lines too with the same line spacing. I have often resorted to creating a new list in Wordpad and re-importing!!!. I have to admit to giving up occasionally and exporting to Premiere Pro and do my titles there!! Routine is often video in Edius , audio in Vegas and titles in Premiere Pro!!!! Just felt it was time to learn!!

If I do a rolling (vertically up movement) title in TM I first select the type of title from default "Still" to "Roll" then I go to Elements -> Constrain and select both Word Wrap and Locked Lines then I paste my text. Now I can edit/correct any line without having blank or misaligned lines.

remember that wordwrap fails after so many lines, I forgot but I think it is around 40 lines, try it, paste a long text for testing and then paste some text near the bottom, wordwrap will fail and overwrite existing text, this bug is older than Edius

also, since the invention of LCD television, I decided not to do any more rolls, they look shocking

instead, I fade in and out blocks of text, much better on the eye for LCD users

Thanks everyone. I agree that maybe now with LCD's I will start to just split up text and fade too.

It would be really nice if you could do some tutorials on using TitleMotion Pro as I have often played with it but struggled to get it to do what I want and give up.
It looks powerful software, just a little daunting to use
            Software:
            Edius 8.5 Workgroup
            NewBlue FX
            Hitfilm Ignite
            Vitascene 2
            Newblue TitleMotion Pro
            Smartsound 5.8

            Desktop:
            MSI Z170A M5 Motherboard, i7 6700K 4Ghz, 32GB DDR4, NVIDIA 970 4Gb, 240GB Boot SDD, 500Gb Video SSD, Windows 10 Pro 64bit

            Laptop:
            MSI GS60, 4K UHD, Intel i7, 16Gb DDR3, Nvidia 970M 3Gb, Windows 10 64bit

            Cameras:
            Panasonic HC-VX870 4K
            GoPro Hero4 Black
            Panasonic GX8 (Stills & Video)
            Garmin Virb 360

To align text in scroll titles, there arew many ways. In right click menu there is aligh all centre, left, right. Alt+C is keyboard for align all centre tab.For line spacing you can use keyboard as well as mouse. You can add extra line(space) in between, there is a button tool for that.Again there is wordwrap to use. Locked lines(right click menu) is another tool to use with control up down arrows, using shift key together with will allo greater movement.Hope this help.

Yes, TM sure isn't your "normal" text/titling tool. I've used many document, text and titling programs and TM does not follow traditional windows "way" of editing.

I don't do any rolling titles as font types and scrolling speed in very important for it to look good take me more time to do than Fade In and Out. As Anton has suggested Fade In and Out is the best way and less "buggy", I use it all the time.
