I've completely forgotten "General Utilities" and was seeking in my Neo and Edius section.

So, avc2hq converter for 5.51 and now one for v6,5. I liked this programme when I had 5.51 but I understand It is not supported in my newly purchased6.07 but has been re introduced again for for v6.5
Does the integrated converter in my new v6.07. Do the same job? If so , why would it be re introduced as a separate programme again for v6.5? just curious, Im sure there is a logical reason..Rod Pike

I don't know what the issue is as even this version can be used if you have 6.0xx installed.
I think that there is something wrong with your info
Note: This software requires that EDIUS v3.0 or later, EDIUS Neo v1.0 or later, or a FIRECODER Blu + FIRECODER Writer software be installed on the same system.

If I hadn't posted about it, 90% of forum users wouldn't know there was a new version!

Steve,
apparently a senior moment on my part. I was sure I had read somewhere that v6 did not support the avc2hd conversion utility, but search as I might, I cannot find this reference. Too much Merlot blurring the vision probably!Anyway, it does and that is good to hear. Thankyou

Well, I tried the new AVC2HQ v4.20 converter today. First tried it with a 1 hour 40 minute recording. All seemed to go well, it ran for about 1 hr 10 minutes and finished up with the message that a file could not be created. Imagine my surprise. So I tried again with a short 5 minute recording. Worked fine. Then I looked into the target folder and both the 1 hr. 40 minute and the 5 minute clips were there. Both loaded fine in EDIUS 6.5. This is going to be a great time saver. Now I can transfer files from my cameras, and convert them simultaneously and all in quicker than real time. BUT, I am worried about the error message, makes it hard to trust the software. Anyone else experiencing this problem?Fred D

Barry:
Win 7 64 bit. An hour and 40 minutes only creates 5 (or maybe it was 6) files, nothing like the 49 you reference.Fred D

What I was referring to was there seems to be a difference in the number of files that can be converted from the camera between W7 (32 bit and 64 bit)
As I have not tried converting a long video It was just a sugestion
The other thing is what is your disk formatted as, if it is NTFS the one hour video should be one file, if it is FAT32 then there will be multiple files of 4G each, may be that is the problem?

Barry:
I'm afraid I was careless in my first note. I just assumed it would be understood that I was using the new AVC2HQ utility to capture from my camera, because that's all I ever thought of using it for. My fault. And I further assumed that all AVCHD cameras used only FAT32 formatted media. Again, just wasn't specific enough. Therefore, yes the 1 hour 40 minute recording is made up of spanned files, 5 I believe, or it may have been 6, and the transfer was fine, just that it gave a false error message, scared me. So the question was in essence, are you getting similar false error messages?
Thanks.
And yes, all my system disks are NTFS.Fred D
