Canopus AVI codec not installing for AE?

    Canopus AVI codec not installing for AE?

    Hi all - I've got a copy of Edius 5, and while it installed fine, AE5.5 won't show the Canopus AVI as an exporting codec nor can it take Canopus AVIs.

    My other computers have Edius 6 and the install works fine with them - they can import/export with no problem.

    I did reinstall 5 on my computer to see if that would help but to no avail, so I'm at a bit of an impasse here.

    Any ideas?

          Here is my procedure:

          Canopus.avi Export.wmv

          When you reinstalled, did you just do the last update? You might want to uninstall E5 and start over ending with E5.51.

              Is it possible that your Canopus codecs are not showing in CS5.5 due the 64bit nature of the program... I dont think Edius 5x codecs show in CS5.5 but Edius 6x codecs will. Forgive me if I am wrong its been a while since 5x for me.

                  That is a very good possibility. I was running CS4 with Edius 5.51.
                  It has been a while that I have had to worry about the bit depth
                  of the codecs.

                      Dave - that could be it as I am running 6 on 32b and 64b desktops... and this 5 would be on a 64b.

                      I'll see if I can upgrade to 6 eventually and see if that fixes the issue.

                          64-bit applications generally require 64-bit CODECs
                          It's one of the annoying non-thunked parts of 64-bit Windows...
