  • dual monitor mode laptop

We hooked up a video monitor to our laptop to try and use 2 monitors when editing. The laptop monitor will just show the record monitor or preview monitor. It will not allow us to put the time line or other bins in the monitor. Is it possible to use edius as a true two monitor editing system and how do you do it?

Reset your layout and by default it has the preview and recorder window and the bins fitted to your screen size. It's under the Edius logo to your upper left > Layout > Normal

How did you connect your second monitor to your laptop? Since you said it's a video monitor, I assume you used an S-Video connector that your laptop has?? You need to enable Direct3D in Edius 4.51c, then go into your display properties and enable "Overlay Cloning" or something similar, depending on your graphics card.

I'm sorry, they connected a Dell computer monitor to the laptop with a dv15? cable(the one that came with the monitor).
