  • ATI X2600 PRO & Edius DVX

I just installed an ATI X2600 card in an Edius DVX system (Asus P5B motherboard)

Edius is operating just fine - I have video overlay, output etc
    MPEG Capture is working fine...

When I go to the hardware settings the following options are grayed out and I cannot change them
    Video Display type - DirectDraw
    Update period - frame

Also DV Capture is not working!

I have used the latest driver from ATI...

    Any comments??

Any ideas why the video display type is locked? Has anyone tried a similar vga?

Even with the DVStorm they are grayed-out (or locked). I think they are unlocked when the NX is used.

Since you have not video issues, you're good to go. :)

Myself I can't get PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra to play created HD DVD files with the ATI X800XL, I'll get the ATI HD2600Pro when they hit the market at my local PC shops.

This is not an ATI problem, it is about DVX card.
Asus P8P67, Intel i7 2600K working at 4.50 Ghz, 16Gb Kingston RAM, Windows 7 64bit, 500Gb system drive, 320Gb Data drive and 1TB RAID-0 for AV, Edius NX Express, EVGA nVidia GTX 570 2.5CB DDR5, 750w ALTEC power and some creativity...

The DVX should be similar to DVStorm. Direct3D is not supported with DVStorm/DVX etc hardware, only NX/SP/Newer cards and OHCI mode.

I did a test myself and you are right...These settings are only for the NX/SP boards...However in my DVX system the OCHI settings are locked as well...Is this normal?

It is locked on my DVStorm2 and OHCI, so I'm going to say it's normal. I do recall on this forum that one of the GV people stated that those setting where for the NX/SP hardware.

Direct3D is locked here too when using the Storm...but if you don't have a Storm card, D3D is available???

I just borrowed my body's MSI 2600Pro PCI Express card and installed the latest ATI driver just to try if this work with Xplode as "Aristotelis" said it.
Well...same old story. For those of you who still want to use Xplode the highest card is the X850.
                        So.... nothing changed.
BTW: I talk about HDV footages in HDV project in Edius 4.51c .

So what you're saying is the ATI 2600Pro will not do Xplode in RT with HD footage BUT SD footage is RT with Xplode. Did you test both Edius Xplode and Xplode Pro?

Reading this I may just stick with my ATI X800XL. HD playback with PowerDVD can be done on my other networked PC that has an ATI X1600Pro.

                          Thanks...Angelo

I tried with 720/30 and 720/24 HDV footages.
I also tried in SD project with some old SD 4:3 footages. No luck, just how I thought.

I bought the Diamond ATI Radeon HD 2600XT 512MB GDDR3 for another system from Future Shop on sale till the Sept 20/07 for CAN$199.99 regular price is CAN$349.99.

I gave it a try in my Editing System with the latest 7.9 drivers.

With the DVStorm the overlay setting in Edius has to be set from NONE to UPDATE OVERLAY to get overlay. Both Xplode for Edius and Xplode Pro had RT performance with the DVStorm.

Using OHCI SD the overlay worked correctly. Both Xplode for Edius and Xplode Pro also had RT performance with OHCI SD.

Using OHCI HD the overlay worked correctly. BUT both Xplode for Edius and Xplode Pro would not work correctly even the preview was incorrect. Changing both Xplode's render engine to universal would preview correctly without RT and it was slow. Since the ATI HD 2X00 hardware is "new" the drivers are more likely to be buggy.

Plus PowerDVD 7.3 Ultra with the latest patch plays correctly HD videos created with Ulead MovieFactory. The CPU has very low usage around 2% on my Editing System. I think I'll keep it in the Editing System since I edit with the DVStorm. I'll get another one for the other system.
