Edius 6
1) Place In & Out markers on the timeline say 20 seconds apart.
2) Pull a clip into the trimmer and adjust length to say 5 seconds
3) Now click the blue insert button in the trimmer window.
Clip is now inserted on the timeline & stretched to 20 seconds.
1) Place In & Out markers on the timeline say 1 second apart.
2) Pull a clip into the trimmer and adjust length to say 5 seconds
3) Now click the blue insert button in the trimmer window.
Clip is now inserted on the timeline & compressed to 1 second.

I've quickly searched the manual but not found the above method.
Works on P8Z68 based pc & toshiba laptop.
New to Edius, come in via Avid 7v2 & Sony Vegas Pro

Edit: The clip in the trimmer must be 'trimmed' for this method to work.
