  • Death during capture

Using 4.51c, I am still getting crashes during capture ( HDV) converting to HQ.
The computer freezes, the tape in the Z1 keeps playing and I cannot regain control of the computer unless I fully shut down and re start. There is no event log error listed after this crash. no cntrl alt del, frozen mouse - just total system death which leaves no trace.

There is no autosave available after one of these crashes, so, I'm going to run a project OHCI to see if its related to the NX card which I suspect most likely as I never experienced this before 4.5 nor in any other application.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

    p.s no vsts no titles.

    Capture Problems

Are you using an ADS Pyro or ADVC to capture with? My machine freezes up when I capture analog using AdsPyro. I have found that if I simply shut the power off of the Ads Pyro unit Edius comes right back to life again. I capture DV direct through a firewire card and don't have any problem.

No, just capturing thru NX card only, HDV, no analogue. I don't think I will be able to sort this out, there are so many errors with the 4.5 release, a once rock solid software, has joined the ranks of all the others, unexplained crashes and many parts of the application which hang up very easily.

I always felt solid with Edius up to 4.03, now I'm back to manually saving and expecting crashes and losses on a daily basis, a bit like the old Premiere days.
I'd revert to 4.03 but there's no XDCAMHD support which I need, and even do without sequences just to get stable again. This software really is becoming a bit of a mess, so many people with critical problems and no real answers - bummer.
