As far as I know, an AAF file is reference file for Non-Linear Editing platforms. (NLE) Editors like Edius, Premiere, Vegas, Avid, etc can work with, to some extent, each others projects once they have been saved as a refference file, like AAF.

An AAF file does not containg video or any other media, it only contains editing decisions like cuts and fades etc.

Since After Effects isn't really an NLE, it does not know what an AAF file is, and is not able to import it (as far as I know).

If you want to add effects to your project, render it out as an uncompressed AVI and import that into after effects.

You can use AAF to AE just make sure the audio is AIFF.

No matter what settings i chose, I get the error in AE -

(Error 17::19) "Overflow Converting Ratio Denominators"

              Anyone else tried this?

If you are using 6.5 and earlier you are out of luck.
AE 7 has more robust AAf support.
