  • Why does Edius lose focus

In Adobe PP, you can have the timeline continue playing while you adjust the Windows OS audio levels. If you try to do this in EDIUS, Edius will lose focus and stop playing. Why is this? I'm just asking because it takes about 7 seconds for Edius to get back it's focus (on large projects) and that's annoying. All other NLE's get back focus in a split second... as soon as you click on it again.

Can't answer your question directly zvit but may I suggest you consider breaking long/large projects into smaller ones? Not only does it make loading etc faster but it also reduces the risk of time-slip errors when editing.

I'm not talking about long timelines. Each of my timelines aren't more than an hour so I don't have sync issues. It's the project that's big. Many assets.

Philips sugestion may be relevant, E6 comes back in less than a second on my machine, even if it has been minimized and that is on a 1hour project broken up into 7 - 10 minute sequences
Total no of clips 1300 approx 3 hrs of video

Is there anything like a Virus checker running in the backgraound, I use Norton and even though I have instructed it to ignore Edius I still disable it for editing
I only have only 8 units loading in msconfig, no Adobe reader or quicktime etc, both these have an effect

You beat me with this one, from memory 1 hour timelines will slow Edius recovery, thats why I break them up and then combine sequences
You can also close sequences and have them in the BIN
          Speeds things up!

Maybe you're right but I edit many weddings and I like to split up the sequences by the event. If there was and hour of dancing, I'd hate to have Seq_Dance_01_FirstHalf and Seq_Dance_01_SecondHalf. I just don't work that way. I like to have each segment in a timeline. Also, in my opinion, an hour is not a long timeline that should cause a delay in focus.
