      The logo just gets really dim- but still looks fairly sharp. It's not normal behaviour for this filter! :)
      It's as if there's a mask around the non-transparent part of the clip- which is just a flat, single colour. The intensity inside the mask diminishes, but the scatter/blur etc outside it is lost- so the outline is still sharp.

        I will try it next time I boot from 5.51, however it works fine in EDIUS6

          I just booted from 5.51 and I can confirm that blur 100% does nothing on an alpha clip logo other than darken the edges

            Ok, I get what you are looking for....now this is what I do...I make a blurred copy in photoshop, and place it next to the sharp copy, and use the desolve...try that...make two copies, one sharp and one blurred and add them to the timeline side by side..use the dessolve just make sure you have the PNG on the upper track

              Thanks everyone- great to know I'm not just getting crazier. Gotta go home now, but I'll try blurring in photoshop when I get a chance.
              I want to install 6 now- but if I do, you can bet they'll upgrade me to Win7 the next day!
