  • How to close open project after PC crash

    Hi all,
I have a new PC which has a nasty habit of crashing with a BSOD right in the middle of an editing session. Something about an Unhandled Interrupt Exception...so much for the new hardware...
Anyway, when I reboot and try to open the last project, EDIUS displays a message advising that the project is still open (by me) and will only open it in Read-Only mode. I have to save it to a new name, it won't let me use the old name.
Does anyone know how to close the open project (after the crash) so that it can be opened as normal and saved when done editing?
    Cheers,
    Walter

Your project file is most likely damaged that's why you need to 'save as'.
If you are in need of the original file name use save as again after deletion of the curropt file or use windows explorer to rename.

    No other way.

Better get your system in order than you'll never see this issue anymore.

Nope...Completely random as far as I can tell.

I don't have time right now to get PC in order as I have a deadline of a few days. Once that's over I will go back to the dealer and get it sorted.
I just thought that if EDIUS thinks the project is still open that there may be a flag somewhere I could reset rather than saving the project under a new name.

        Cheers,
        Walter

before opening EDIUS, open Windows explorer and enable show hidden files and folders

then go to the location of your project file and delete the lock file

now open EDIUS and choose the last auto saved file, then "save as" over the top of the original name
