  • Pan & Scan

Does Edius have any ability to pan on a still shot, if not does anyone have a solution, without having to purchase expensive 3rd party software, I only need to add this effect to a few shots.

Thanks dpalomaki - I thought that Layouter could be the answer but could not get it to work, your reply caused me to return to it and finally get into it by trial and error. I have been unable to find any guides/tutorials on this aspect do you know of any? I have the OST comprehensive tutorial but this; much to my disappointment does not cover it only mentioning a further more advanced version as yet, I assume, to be released.

I do this every day I edit, since I use lots of vintage and historic stills and scans. Layouter is pretty simple...it can do 2D and 3-Dspace moves.

Just practice using the keyframe ability. You can use the layout made for one image and apply it as the exact same "move" to others.

see examples online at our web site, since we only use EDIUS for editing. watch the trailer for Sweet Violets at sweetvioletsmovie.com

You can also do this with 3D pip (in keyers).

The layouter is a better option since it will keep the quality of the original still where as the 3D Pnp downsizes the still to your timeline setting and then moves around it.

Thanks to all, I have managed to do exactly that which I needed to, but the exercise has made me want to do more with it but I still can't find any user friendly guides.
The movements are exceedingly smooth and by cropping the very high resolution still frame to 1080 pix high have been able to pan along the strip required at full HD quality.
