  • Cross-platform Lossless video?

I'm looking for a lossless way to send clips from Edius to someone using After Effects CS5. Is PNG/BMP my best option for this? I'd prefer a video, but I don't want any codec hassle for him. A simple "here you go, start working" route is favorable.

And if image sequence is best, what's the difference between PNG through Quicktime exporter, and PNG through Still Image?

Part of the reason I ask is because the two different PNG properties say this:

    Quicktime PNG
    1.91mb
    24 bit depth

    Still Image PNG
    1.60mb
    32 bit depth

The source video is from 8-bit HD h.264 Canon DSLR files. Super small in comparison to lossless.

Sorry, Stephen, but MPEG-2 isn't lossless.

      Try .avi.

After Effects would take H264 files - do you need to edit them first? MPEG2 is just another compressed method and every time you compress something you run the risk of messing up the picture. However if you are looking for really standard file formats there is not really one that After Effects will take is not too compressed. Some people use EXCAM-EX, which is MPEG2 but not too compressed.
