  • Burn to disk burn speed

We changed out Pioneer DVD burner for a LG Blu Ray burner in our main editor and when burning DVDs from the timeline in Edius we always try to burn at the lowest speed. With out old burner we would get a choice of 4x as the lowest speed. Now with the new burner the lowest speed is 8x. I am not sure if the burn speed is related to the burner or a combination of burner and disk brand. Since we started burning at 8X, we consistently get skips and jumps on the original. However, if we duplicate the original in our duplicator that is set for 4X using the same brand disk we get smooth playback and no jumps.

Just not sure what is going on. Really not much of a problem because we never send out the original anyway.

    Any Ideas??

    Thanks

What brand disc are you using?

I'm using LG burners with AW4 and Nero, mainly using TY media at 8x, with no problems to date.

be sure to use 8x disks, then you will get choice of 6x and 4x (use TY 8x premium, now owned by JVC)

if you use 16x disks, your lowest will be 8x

unless you use Nero or ImgBurn, then you are the boss
