          Sounds good.
I assume HQ/HQX will be just decoding- but this is good for sharing data with MAC users.
Still lost of features, which were asked 10x more than 3D support is missing :(

            No,
the codecs will be really available for FREE! ;)
These are really great news for me because I will be able to export my
timeline to a Mac compatible format & hopefully without color shift!
            Great decision!
Grass Valley is also making its renowned intermediate codec technology freely available to other applications. As well as the PC-based HQ/HQX codecs, a QuickTime version of Grass Valley's HQ and 10-bit HQX codec (for Windows and Mac platforms), will be available for free download.

From my view 299$ is a fair amount for getting 3D-Support (if needed).

I'm not so sure about it- I'm still assuming it's decoding part only (as we have it now)- anyway, it's good to have MOV version.

Andreas is correct, its decoding and encoding.

Things will change and adding lots of stuff for free is hard to do these days.

i agree too, also a shame to point to a new feature were there exist several fixes to make and a LOT of features we (users) are been waiting for...

Great news and good move by GV!

Provide free SDK (and no or small licensing fee) to all disk recorder manufactures and you will get many new Edius users.

Just please add better 10bit support on input/output sides (for directshow/VFW part of codec). Without this it's waste of HQXs capabilities.

Holdan was talking about 64bit as a next step for Edius at BVE. Sooner or later it will happen- GV has really no choice. No need to rush and have another unstable NLE.
