  • Video Capture with canopus 3g storm video card

    Howdy,

Currently I'm trying to get a video capture from a DVR on a canopus 3g storm card in Edius 6.06.

It's recording audio on the capture but all I see for video is a completely green screen.

    Any ideas?

And yes I've already tried a hammer.

After a hammer comes a full frame TBC, or was that before the hammer :)
What DVR is used and what was the source of recording ?
Most proberly some sort of copy protection on the output stage.

      lol

It's a motorola dct6416 III set to 1080i output via hdmi. Which I've plugged into a monitor and the output is fine.

From the hdmi output it goes into a blackmagic design hdmi to sdi converter box then straight into the 3g storm card.

The dip switches on the hdmi to sdi converter are all at default which is correct for straight hi-def through the converter (no down conversion).

That's a whole lot op gear I never touched before ......
One thing I can comment as I just googled your Moto gear, most likely you won't get any recording out of the HDMI port, any analog component would be my best guess will work without HDCP protocol.

Worst case scenario you could try the RF out if you hammer didn't smash it :)

Make sure you have REF Video set to Video Input- this is in SDI settings- when you create capture preset.
If it still does not work you have some issue with other hardware- Storm is a rock solid card :)

Input sync was selected and I've tried with ref sync too (we have gpio sync; we are a tv station)

Hmmm- just for test try to downconvert with BM converter.

Green screen means there is some signal- otherwise Storm shows gray preview.

I still don't think Storm is the problem as I found it rock solid with any format coming from Digi/HDCam or SR deck ( or other capture cards).

What I know is that BM is cheap and this is the best thing about it.

Another test is to check SDI signal on broadcast monitor.
