making hd file small issue

  • making hd file small issue

    finished up an hd project and made an hq file (fine) for archiving of it to an external. when i play that back off the external the footage is fluttering, hope that describes what its doing.
    any idea on this?
    should i do less than fine?

    Maybe external storage link isn't fast enough

      Jim, is the drive an older usb 1 version? A usb 2.0 should
      play that back pretty easily. If it is a 5400rpm version
      that could offer an explanation of it sputtering.
      Your motherboard has usb 3.0 on it. You can pick
      up a 3.0 drive for pretty cheap.

        Why don't you do the obvious test???? Copy the file back to your internal media storage drive, and see if it plays properly. If it does, then it is quite obviously your external bus speed.

          are you playing the external drive HQ file with Windows Media Player? If so, it will flicker because WMP is dumb and has no idea that the file is upper field first and plays it in lower field first

          Microsoft assume all avi are lower field first, like their DV.avi
