The program might be able to run ... but you got NO device driver. You must have 64 bits device drivers to work under WINXP 64.

32 bits programs run in a special "address space" under WINXP 64. But EDIUS is a 32 bits program - and won't take advantage of 64 bits. In fact, all video editing programs are I/O bound, not memory bound.

Only programs like Adobe After Effects and Photoshop are able to take advantage of running in WinXP 64 to use all 4GB virtual address range. EDIUS will not use all 4GB virtual address. No point putting EDIUS in WINXP 64.

Yup. I agreed. Thats why Im skecptical to migrate to 64bit XP Pro. Essential Canopus Drivers are not 64bits programmed.

      Thanks alot Bro.

        64bits drivers for canopus products

Hi, working on AfterFx I'm about to upgrade to win 64 edition..
Of course, I still need Edius and I wonder if you know what Canopus hardware has its driver in 64 bits. It will be too bad (expensive) to add new computer with the same components( RAID..)just for win32.. Some ideas ? Txs ++

Nope - you are out of luck (for now). As far as I know, Canopus device drivers are all 32 bits. There are no 64 bits drivers at all.

Why not install one copy of Win XP 32 in one partition and Win XP 64 in another partition - then you can boot up Win XP 32 to do EDIUS and reboot in Win XP 64 to do After Effects.

That's how I do it here.

Yea. Tingsern is rite! No Canopus drivers are built for 64bit. Thus gotta make do with 32bit addressing. The reason i posted this question is because Im using 4GB of DDR2 rams but according to Microsoft, XP PRO 32bit can only adress to max. of 2GB menory.

Yes good idea but what do you think about partitionning a Raid 1 System Disk ? Does the raid controller manage with 2 partitions? Txs
