    That might be it Dave. I'll check in the morning, as I've turned it off now, but if I remember right I saw a keyframe in the transparency area, although it wasn't set to do anything.

    Actually if there is at least one keyframe in the transparency area in 3dPinP, it will not allow you to use the transparency keyer outside of 3dPinP...so remove all the keyframes from the transparency area (the last to the bottom) and go back to the timeline and transparency should work now.

    Here the combination of using the rubberband to fade in/out with 3D PiP is working fine. No matter in which order they are applied.
    Tested with an alpha still over a PAL DV-clip.

    I'm not sure if it is designed to work this way, but.....

    I had a clip on the timeline, fading in using the blue rubber band.

    Thought it might look a little better if it was slightly zoomed in, so I used 3D PiP to zoom in a little and the fade in stopped working. I had to go back in to 3D PiP and add transparency to achieve the fade.
