How do I set the Audio Source Channel Default to be "Stereo"

Regardless of channel mapping, my project always opens with A1 and A2 on seperate tracks and I have to right click, open dialogue, select "audio source channel stereo" click - done - every time I create a new sequence, it's the same, 2 tracks for left and right and not one with both.

Sure there must be a way to fix this, but where is it?

I'm sure someone else might have a better solution, but I think you will need to create a new blank template with these parameters set up, and then use that profile.

I did exactly that, I open my template and the sequence is correct, but if you add a new sequence it isn't.

If I duplicate an empty sequence, it dumps my preference for audio as well.

As far as I can see, there's no setting for this.

Is it something to do with the mouse pointer pposition. move it around but dont release to see if it gives various choices. Mouse position can be critical

It simply appears to be that the default sequence setting is always "Audio Source Channel (stereo)" not selected: so you have to select it each time you create a sequence - so does everyone work with split channels for a stereo project?

I only occassionaly use split source. As i record 1 channel auto and 1 manual i select the required one from Audio properties, Audio is not my speciality especially with nativity plays i tend to put 6db on the auto channel as there is too much variation on the manual and if not careful you can end up concentrating too much on manual level. I am still perfecting, i have added a 7inch on camera monitor so that i can leave status on viewfinder larger than it would be on NX% bottom right of LCD I will PM you later i have just bought a stereo mic but need some questions answered

              Hi Paul.

I think I understand what you are saying. If you select the target audio track and target video video before you bring the clip to the timeline, and make sure the audio track settings are set to stereo(right click to the left of the audio track). This should then show the audio as a single track but stereo, with the correct waveforms etc. after it is brought to the timeline. Hope this is what you mean.

              Cheers.

              Dave.

Exactly, then if I open a new sequence, it is brought in as seperated audio channels, and I have to "create" the single track setting each time.

It makes sense to me to have "Stereo" as a single dual channel track for easy adjustments as default, and i have the option to seperate the channels if I need to.

Maybe TV stations are all working with "dual" channel audio and not stereo so often.

I hate to say it, but this is an Edius version 6 issue for me, and goes hand in hand with the fiddly channel mapping, and, no auto track selection when you hit a clip, and, no track selection with the arrow keys - I know this is all to do with multicam etc etc, but everytime I work on Edius 5 with an old project, it feels so much less fussy, oh well, you can't have everything.
