  • HDV playing back in half temop!!!

    Hi,

Hope for a bit of help on this one...

When I playback HDV in Edius, it´s like slowmotion - the whole playbackengine is off, even the timecode displayed is playing back at approx. 50%...

I have solved the problem before by uninstalling Edius 4.5 completely, and then reinstalling it afterwards. This I did yesterday - reinstalled, rebooted and checked that HDV playback in Edius was ok, and it was. Then I shut down the PC.... And today I then started it - opened Edius - and bang, the problem was back.... I simply do not get this....

Since it worked after the first reboot, there should be nothing odd with the project or hardwaresettings as far as I can reason. The only difference between the working state and non-working state is that the computer was shutdown overnight!??!?

Here´s a little systeminfo, for the wiser ones:

    XP Pro SP2, updated completely
    Edius 4.51c
NX hardware with the optional firecoder...

    All intel on the motherboard
    Dualcore 2 x 3Ghz
    3 gigs of ram

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy hope someone has som input - this is driving med nuts...

My first guess would be that there is something with a memory leak, eating available memory. By the time the morning comes, the system is short on RAM and has to use virtual memory. Check Task Manager and see how much memory is free.

Should be enough - 1 Gb available, still. And... The PC is without power during the night - completely switched off...

Weird. Other background processes running? Otherwise a large-scale system pause is sometimes a sign of a hard drive going bad.

          Hi Brandon,

You lost me there with the large-scale system pause... The system is not pauseing, the video is simply being played back with a fragment of the realspeed. If I change the projectsettings, and choose to play it back as e.g. OHCI 720p I have no problems. If I choose to downscale to SP, again no problems.

I managed to get hold of Janine af Tech Support UK yesterday, and we´re trying to replace the hardware - leaning a bit against the possibility that there´s an error with either the NX or the expansionboard...

So playback performance is OK in OHCI mode at the same resolution/framerate, but it's slow when the NX hardware is activated?

If that's the case, then it's either a hardware problem or there's some kind of resource sharing/conflict between the NX hardware and the storage or something else in use.

I agree, that´s my conclusion as well! I gonna see if I can move the cards around, and get the IRQ´s changed - XP isnt´excactly superflexible when it comes to that!
