If you don't care about 10bit Edius is actually amazing to work with 4K!
Just convert files to HQX, get good machine and you have cheapest RT editing for 4K on the market!

You can copy your RED files using Virtual Dub (free) you will need to down load the free red 32bit plugin for VD so it can see your files.

Then re encode to 4K or 3K or whatever in HQX or HQ. It's pretty quick, you can set up a batch script to copy files whilst you sleep.

Then open your lovely large scale files in Edius with say an HD project and off you go, great realtime performance, great pan and scan with layouter.

a pity Edius doesn't do RED files directly.

Beware, you do lose your timecode.
