  • AVI won't play

    Hi All
My DV AVI files, original or edited with Edius 6 won't play on any other computers nor on the Asus O!play HD media player. Question is why? how can I change this? tried DV pal (tick) MSDV codec. In-fact I've tried most of the AVI presets.

MSDV works well on every Windows system if the codec is correct installed!
I wonder that it did not work since MSDV codec will be installed with every standard Windows installation!
Try to install an alternate codec package if the file won't be played back!

For Canopus AVI playback on other Windows systems just install the free Canopus playback codec option from GV's Website!

For avi those specs are not very useful because you need to know which codecs it supports for avi.
The fastest and easiest way to get a playable file is to export to MPEG2

          Sorry John,
I was wrong with your ASUS media player!

I didn't recognize that you talking about an external hardware media player.
I thought you mean a software player!

In your the ASUS media player export another compatible codec format!

            Thanks Steve/Andreas
I didn't want to export to MPEG2 but it looks like I will have to. It's all my family master AVI files, I just wanted the ability to play them with the O!play.
            thanks again John
