Why not learn it the easy way, outline roughly, then go back to the places that need finer adjustments.
Corners or other rounded shapes can also be done later by right clicking, then under tools choose add control point, now you can freely make rounded corners or almost any shape you need.
You can lasso several points and move them around without affecting the rest.
It's important to play a lot to get the feel of the tools, after a while you will be using the keyboard shortcuts A, V, E & H (shift + or shift -) a lot like in the way you would J K L or N & M.

You decide where control points are made.

Let me not confuse you there are a few ways to do it.
    I will explain later
i can mask a person but the outline is more jagged because the lines are straight. not curvy like the tutorial

still having problems being able to get edius mask to work like the video tutorial.

    heres the video

, i also uploaded a pic showing that the vertex is made as he starts to trace the nose. not after the whole mask is complete.

I think the user might have added a shortcut key to push when the need for the vertex function is needed. Almost looks like the mask knows where the edge line is supposed to be.

Yes add vertex when doing the first outline and then edit when fine-tuning.

Yes, next to the undo icon. I think what I need to enable is "edit control point e" or add vertex

When I click to make a dot and then go to the next point it doesn't split into 2 dots and follow the edge like in the YouTube edius mask tutorial when he free shap masks the whole elephant with precision

Did you keyframe it along with the movement ?
You have to do a lot of work yourself, unfortunately it's not motion tracking.

My mask isn't as precise as in the tutorial. I'm guessing that it's a setting that I have to enable but I can't find it in the mask window

    Thanks ,
    Chris
