  • Making a Rectangular Highlight

Let's say I have an image and I want to highlight a particular area. This highlight effect I want is to simply brighten this area of the image or to darken the whole image and lea.

I know I could make a rectangle in Quick Titler and make it transparent but this would not really color correct the existing image... more like blocking the existing image.

Is there a way to brighten or darken a rectangular area or irregular area using Edius tools?

    Thanks!
    Sincerely,

    Mike Truly

And the moving path option within Region filter allows you to keyframe position and size of that region!

Thanks very much for these tips.

The region filter seems to work well for this... I haven't really used it before.

One thing I would like to see with this and a number of other dialogs is resizability. The small preview image makes it a bit hard to accurately position the region rectangle. Perhaps in the next version this will be improved.

        Thanks again.
        Sincerely,

If you need better precision, use 3dPiP crop as a psudo "overlay".

                    SR,

Yes... the production monitor is good for looking at the end result but not ideal for adjustments since frequently you are looking at the marquee as you drag. And since the marquee (in this case) is the size of the head of a pin, it would be nice to be able to resize the entire dialog to make the whole preview image larger.

But this also applies to other dialogs such as 3D PIP were both the preview image and keyframe window (and God... someday please let it be true... a spline editor window) would greatly benefit from re-sizability.

                    Thanks!
                    Sincerely,

                    Mike Truly
