  • Creating a Pal DVD

    Hi,
I need to create a Pal DVD to be played in France. I shot the video in NTSC and edited it in Edius 5.51 in NTSC. How do I make a PAL DVD?

    Thank you,

    Dwayne Gitter

The quickest, but dirtiest way is put your exported NTSC timeline in a PAL project & export to DVD!
If you really would like to get a much better result, it will take a lot of time. For that case ask again! ;)
Btw, is that footage progressive ot interlaced?

    Cheers!

You may need to use Layouter to adjust the image size (width), to make it look normal.

Other methods are expensive or time consuming.

Best solution- keep it NTSC, which works in 99% of DVD players (<8 years old), including European ones.

DVD is always PAL or NTSC! ;)

SECAM is not supported by DVD spec!
It's more that all TV can show PAL signals!

Just produce a NTSC DVD, any Hollywood feature film sold in Europe is almost always NTSC.
I do not know any user who has a player who isn't multi system :)

Just to correct you in this point, your assumption is wrong!
Hollywood feature films are sold in Europe always in PAL!
For this purpose a PAL speedup will be applied (24 -> 25 fps) with audio pitch correction!
24 fps will be used just for cinema releases! ;)
