  • Can't relink - doesn't match exactly

Many times, when I try to relink footage that I have used in the past and then transferred to another drive, EDIUS will only relink them if I UNcheck "relink files only if they match exactly". These are the EXACT files I used so why doesn't EDIUS see that they match exactly?

Actually I believe there was a bug in an earlier version of EDIUS (6.02) I think which caused this and is now fixed. A project made in 6.01 and opened in 6.05 should work ok (ie you don't need to untick match clips exactly) but one made in 6.02 and opened in 6.05 will need this unticked.

The other possibility is that the clips have been opened in another program which has changed something about the clip. Premiere Pro has a habit of doing this as it tried to write metadata to the file, which changes the date modified, and then suddenly the clips are not EXACTLY the same as the originals.

I don't remember which version I opened them up originally but it must be that bug thing and I'll ignore it.

The only difference between the times I opened the files is that the first time I opened them, I was drinking coffee and the second time I was drinking tea.

I see it time to time in Edius 5- there is something doggy about re-linking.

Who knows.... Maybe EDIUS is SO smart that it knows what you're drinking and that's why it says that the files don't match!
