  • Corrupt AVCHD files

Started a new project which has a number of Sony AVCHD files included. On loading the files, Edius starts to write the .ese files and somewhere fails, then crashes.

I've isolated some of the corrupt files, but not all,

anyone with any observations, or recommended .mts file repair soft?

    Paul :-)

....if the camera was available, but it's not, I've converted several of the un readable files in V Dub! whearas they would crash Edius (and Vegas), VD has proved yet again to be a valuable free tool.

...it looks as if 2 of the files are realy dead.

Can you trim the file in VD ? Sometimes it works to cut the head and or tail.

          ha!

the dead ones convert in TMPgenc 5 ! sorted!

So I guess something upsets Edius about these clips, no time to investigate, but if anyone at GV wants this .mts file I'll happily make it available, its 250mb. if I import it into a new Edius project, I get a crash.

              Hi Ron,

The files came on a hard drive, as .mts - also not as fat32, which I think the Sony transfer utility needs.

The Sony utilities bring them over as .m2ts. So I expect they either were not used to transfer from the camera or the files had been through some other editor before you got them. Likely the cause of the corruption.

Any chance the files are missing some form of header, as with fils that are split in the camera due to the 2 GB file size linitationm the second and subsequent files in the string being missingthe header? If so, you might be able to solve it by a binary concatination of the files.

                      Hi Paul,

Have you tried to play these corrupts files in Edius 5.5 or Neo 2.5 ?

Edius 6.05 is known as nitpicking software about .mts files. It crashes without any warning when TMPgenc 5, Procoder 3 or Neo 2.5 read and convert smoothly.

I think that it's a problem for GV developers for 6.0x update ?

Anyway, I'm happy to see that TMPgenc 5 solves your problem :-)

                        Hi Paul,

Is it possible to upload the footage so that our QA department can have a look at the file?

                              Oh dear,

Another batch of AVCHD files, only about 4 hours worth, same issue - during creation of seek and audio waveform cache - Edius crashes.

I've turned all the seek and waveform dialogues off, but it still grinds away for hours and dies.
