  • Edius 6.05 + capture Sony HDV + XP

For a friend , I try to solve his pb : No capture HDV
    His system :
    CM : Asus P5K-E
    OS : XP SP3
    Cam HDV : Sony HC7E
    Edius 6.05
driver IEEE1394 : 2 lines (standard OHCI + NEC OHCI)

If I connect my Canon A1 instead of Sony HC7E : no problem

IF I connect Sony HC7E on my system (W7 + Edius 6.05) : no problem

    Strange ...

We have nearly a same problem with our HVR-M25 deck.
Have you checked that all "conversation" options on your HC7 is set to manual mode (not automatic).

    example: DV-HDV -> manual

in our case this was the solution.

Same solution with my Sony HDV => set the camera manually to DV or HDV connection, don't use the automatic option.

        Yes, I checked this option.
The cam is on HDV only (not automatic).
        But, no success in capture.

As its a Sony this is a 2 step setting for HDV playout.
1st would be to lock it to HDV play out, that you have done.
2nd you need to set iLink conversion to OFF.
If either one is not set it doesn't playout HDV, please check that both settings are correct.
(after changing you need to power cycle !)

Of course, conversion HDV to DV is off.
With the same cam settings, I can capture on my system from Sony cam but not on my friend one which is build with NX card (PCI-e).
But on his system my Canon A1 is OK (only by NX IEEE1394, not by mobo IEEE1394).

I tried this tip already, but under XP I haven't legacy driver.

oops, with XP you don't need the legacy driver

something must be wrong with your device preset

example, a 1440x1080 50i HDV device preset will not capture anything other than that

so, make sure the camera recording is actually the same as the device preset, similar to this

                    Presets are OK
If I connect my cam Canon A1 on this machine and same preset , I can capture easily.
                    The Sony not.

And If I connect the Sony on other machine (mine) and same preset , I can drive tne Sony without any problem.

Hum, the life is not as a long cool river ...

                        See the picture

There is no : VIA OHCI IEEE1394 Compliant Host controller.
But, with the mobo : Asus P5K-E , perhaps it's not compatible.

is this an onboard firewire? I mean part of the motherboard?

                              if so, some are problematic

in that case, go to PC shop and buy a firewire card, very cheap and it should work

but the one on the NX should work as well, and if the NX is installed correctly and with the EDIUS hardware driver from EDIUS 6.05 then you should see the NEC and Texas instrument driver, at least this is what I see whenever I do it
