    Problem solved, all but ...
Thru NX Fire-wire, I try cam. Sony Z5 on test machine and it's OK (Canon XH-A1 as well).
Thru PC FW , nope (even with an extra FW card).

    Conclusion :
    - the little cam Sony HC7E has not a perfect FW standard output (non-operational on any machine)
    - the PC FW inputs don't work (why ? - OS ?)

My friend has also a Sony Z5 and now he can capture with this cam.

    I have 2 sytems : XP + W7
And yes the Sony is OK on 2 ones

My system with XP is also based on NX card (PCI-X instead of PCI-e) and the mobo is different (Asus also).

    Yes, for 2 cam.

does the Sony appear in device manager as an imaging device after connecting?

Neither for Canon A1, nor for Sony.
    Only the generic line.

so the problem PC is the one without the NX installed?

in that case it is safe to assume that the onboard firewire is no good, unless something firewire related is disabled in the BIOS

I bet if you insert a third party card it will work

is this an onboard firewire? I mean part of the motherboard?

    if so, some are problematic

in that case, go to PC shop and buy a firewire card, very cheap and it should work

but the one on the NX should work as well, and if the NX is installed correctly and with the EDIUS hardware driver from EDIUS 6.05 then you should see the NEC and Texas instrument driver, at least this is what I see whenever I do it

    See the picture

There is no : VIA OHCI IEEE1394 Compliant Host controller.
But, with the mobo : Asus P5K-E , perhaps it's not compatible.
