First Crash of EDIUS 6.05 for me
Happened Whilst I had the Classic Compressor Free VST by KJAERHUS AUDIO

open and was trying some different settings from the pull down preset bar in the compressor. I also had the Audio Mixer Open to monitor the levels and the crash occurred as I clicked the mouse pointer on the time line to switch back to an earlier postion in the time line whilst it was playing.

EDIUS HAS STOPPED WORKING CLICK CLOSE

after this I restart then recover from the auto save and resave my project.
Next I go back and do the same as before only this time no crash.
I have exported the project to disc and it works ok, along with the vst on the audio also worked fine.

Sounds like it may be the the plug-in, have you provided information to its developer?

No, since the company has since disappears

However this was reconised as a good compressor overall as a free one, they also used to sell a paid version of the same one.

I am abit confused since this was working fine in EDIUS on 5.51
in fact I copied from old machine, still running 5.51 the VSTs out of the folder and made a new copy for EDIUS 6.05 on my new system, placed them inside a folder called VST and then added that folder in the settings of EDIUS.

Since then I have had another 2 crashes both containing the following:

I notice in these ones that Fault Module Name: Classic Compressor.dll_unloaded

where as the first one was Fault Module Name: USER32.dll

The last 2 crashed occurred when I was in EDIUS 6.05 and switching back and fro from EDIUS to the Windows Desktop.

      The system is a Q9650 @ 3.00GHz
      Gigabyte EP45 MB 8GB RAM
Windows 7 x64 SP1 all updates as of yesterday

I have noticed also with 6.05, and series of system crashes I never experienced with any version before. I have come to one conclusion, which I would love to know if anyone else has come to. IF I'm in an edit, and happen to push "play" at the same time EDIUS 6.05 tries to begin an auto-save, the system locks up. I'm going to try and set the auto-save to 15 minutes instead of "5", so I'll report back. Anyone else?
        Have a great week,

I don't know if this would help, but it works for other Bex errors:
          1. right click on my computer
          2. go to properties
          3. click on advanced system settings
          4. under performance, click settings
          5. click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
          6. click Add, browse to the executable file for edius.exe and add it.

          short description:
Buffer overflow is a condition when some process tries to store data beyond the capacity of the fixed/available buffer so it tries to overwrite some other memory locations, too. And in Windows we have some security feature called Data Execution Prevention that is intended to prevent similar processes to prevent buffer overflow attacks (that can introduce some malicious codes). But in some cases DEP can prevent some legitimate software from executing, too. And then you can get a BEX error.
          Maybe this can help?

thanks for that, it works perfect in Win7/64 using EDIUS 6.05

I installed the exe, this created a VST folder in program files 86

then I started EDIUS and went to system settings and added the VST folder from the VST bridge

then restarted EDIUS and all of them show up now and work without a crash so far

                      Good Work, I apprieciate this
Actually they are a nice set of plug ins

I was messing around with the drop drop presets whilst playing the time line and trying different ones from the top pull down box in the classic compressor. I was also messing around with the slider at the bottom moving it up and down.

The system is a fresh install of windows 7x64 sp1
let me know how you go on

                        bad news

after messing around a bit more, especially adding more than one of the Classic series, then opening the properties, EDIUS crashed

I checked the VST dll properties and they were made in 2005, long before Win7 and I think that is the issue, I have removed them again

ar well at least you managed to reproduce the crash

Still should a badly behaving vst take out the whole EDIUS program, maybe one for the developers?

Just wondering if any chance this could be passed on to support to check out why the crash since these are nice little plugins that are free and otherwise work well in EDIUS 5.51 under vista 64.

Do you think it is something to do with the BEX, would running EDIUS.exe as adminatrator work?

Seems a really shame as I like these plug ins, nice and simple to use, even if the company no longer is

It is unlikely support would ask engineering to spend anytime on this. It is an old plug-in as you say the company is no more.
I think the best thing for you to do is to find something that works.
