Now Working
Just to report back to the Forum,
I uninstalled 4.51c and then reinstalled 4.0 from the disk. I launched 4.0 and set the overlay. The Monitor windows worked fine. I then reinstalled 4.51c and checked the overlay setting under hardware settings. The direct draw was still grayed out, but the monitor windows seem to work fine. As my Daddy used to say "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Unless something else pops up I will assume that Edius 4.5 is working on my new computer.
Thanks to all for their help.
Bob

Need for INI
Thanks for the Info
The bad news is that my old computer died and I no longer have access to the ini file. Any suggestions on how I can come up with one?

With the storm card the only option is direct draw. The new overlay mode does not work with the storm.
We have storm and Edius 4.51c working perfect and showing overlay.
I think the old ini edit still applies if you have trouble with the overlay.

I believe the storm requires special attention in E4.5 as far as overlay goes
I seen a solution posted here but did not pay much attention since I don't have a storm

Thanks again for your reply. I have an older storm card installed. Does it have a separate driver from the Edius driver, and does Edius 4.51c install it? This is a new machine and I depended on my install of 4.24 followed by 4.51c to install all the drivers I would need.

Edius 4.5 has a new way of displaying overlay, I am not fully up to speed as to what works and what does not in terms of graphics cards and drivers
if you don't have any capture hardware, then direct draw may not be an option
I also have not found a system recommendation chart for non hardware based systems, I do build some systems but they are all SP or NX based and I only use Supermicro motherboards, but this may end soon as well since all cards are being designed for PCIe home computer boards and not server boards

Direct draw problem
Anton
Thanks for the the info. I have installed the latest driver for the gforce 8800. and I also installed the latest version of Direct X. I still have the problem. When I open up the Hardware settings window I am not able to select direct draw option. Any suggestions?

That means that you have a overlay problem. Try a newer video card driver or try changing the overlay mode.

Monitor windows not working in 4.51c
I have just brought up a new computer (See below) Edius installed without a hitch, but neither of the monitor windows will track a vidio file. They will show a still image when I double click the clip, but when I click play nothing happens. The same when I scrub.
