  • Previewing with NX and other questions

Hi Guys. I am about to get a new NX card and bay to replace my storm 2 card. Questions 1 is, how much would I get for the storm card and question 2 is once I have the nx installed, what do most people do to preview HDV on a monitor. Do you run component out for high def, wouldnt this be going from digital to ananlogue. Is there any way to keep it full digital, some cards like the matrox offer dvi out. Whats your ideas guys. Last question, what monitors are people using that are fair priced to view there hdv material. Thanks. Love the new forum.

Good move... Ther's still a surprisingly fair market on eBay. I reciently asked $135 and it sold mine for $355! (without StormBay) I had several requests from Austrailia and the UK so there is still a lot of interest.

      Hey

For #1 I've seen Dvstorm 2 cards going for $250 but it could be more I am sure.

for #2.. I am not 100% sure as I don't preview HDV footage but I believe those who have the expansion bay for the NX, use the component outs on that for true HDV preview on their monitor. Those who do not have the expansion board use their graphics card but I am pretty sure there was some issue that makes it less desirable, but wait for someone more experienced to post to shed some light on the situation.

#2:you can preview HDV on a monitor by component out, according your project,it can output different definition, include 720*480,1440*1080,1280*720,1920*1080 and so on,Most important is that it looks fine

About to jump on this, but what are getting off the monitor?
RGB or YUV? Can't get an answer I'm happy with so far. Dell a good choice, looking at BenQ n Samsung as well. No dough for Eizo...... BenQ has HDMI as a bonus....

Do you find the dell to look a little grainy or messy up close. I have a dell 24" and run the component in from the nx card. Look great on my rear pro but not so on the dell. Any ideas from fellow dell users
