  • setting for new samsung monitor with edius

just got the samsung syncmaster 223bw monitor . love it.
im using the nvidia geforce fx5600xt card. when i go to settings its on 1280x1024.
the monitor info says its 1680x1050.
should i reset it to that.?also, when im loading the monitor software it gives me a choice of analog or digital. does this depend on my video card?not sure what to do there.
its obvious on the two different resolution where the 1680 stretches things and the fonts/everything are bigger. which should i set it on.

Always use native resolution, which is 1680x1050 for that monitor. Using other resolutions will yield to a blurry image and it's not worth it.

Install the Samsung drivers that came with the CD, it will install a color profile for your monitor. Did you connect it via DVI or VGA cable? (DVI is the larger one, VGA is the older and smaller one with 15 pins). Use "Analog" for VGA and "Digital" for DVI.

I have the 20" Wide versions of these monitors and they're awesome.

Next step, 30" Apple Cinema Display :D
