  • Edius 4.51 - Updating Firmware?

Due to an Edius problem yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled Edius 4.51 a few times.

Each time I reinstalled I noticed that, or at least it appeared that, Edius updated the firmware on my SP hardware? Is this the case, and if so why does it need to do it repeatedly having already done it? Is this a good/safe thing to do numerous times, if it is indeed doing what it says it is doing?

    Thanks
    System 1 - SP with Edius Broadcast 4.54 , 2x DUAL 2.66 Xeon CPU's, Tyan 2696, 2gig RAM, Sapphire 1950PRO 2

    System 2 - RT2 MAX with Edius Pro 4.54, 2x Xeon 2.4ghz CPU's, 512meg RAM, Compaq

    Hi,

Yes this is normal every time you install.

It does the same on the NX. It's not actually installing the firmware, just seeing if it needs updating, and if it has the latest, then it just skips it.

Thanks for the info guys - seems to take a looong time to decide if it needs to update though.

        Cheers

Yeah, do you hear the small "snap" on the card? Seems like an SD/HD switch? Don't know if the SP has this...

I always assumed that it was the switching between NX and the AVDC..
