4 trial-need to uninstall 3 first?

I tried to install the edius 4.51 trial and during installation it said I need to uninstall a detected older version first (my current version 3). I've never heard of this before and it seems screwy to me. I don't want to uninstall my current version with projects half finished in order to try out a new version.
What's up with that?

Yes you need to remove it first. There is a way to have both but I have not tried the trial version.

Do you have a laptop or another computer that you might want to try the trial on?

Thanks Stormdave. I would prefer to try it on my main editing system but I will install it on another puter to give it a go.

it's not right to mess with a computer when you're doing something important...

There was a way to install both, but don't know how to do it with the trial. I assume it's the same, but you need to mess with the computer a bit, and it's not worth it in my honest opinion :)
